- BIS AHMEDABAD RAIDS JEWELLER AT AHMEDABAD
Enforcement raid was carried out by the team of officers of Bureau of Indian Standards, Ahmadabad on the premise of M/s Himatlal T. Patadia (Gems & Jewellers), First Floor, 117, Silicon Valley, Shivranjani Cross Roads, Ahmedabad on 06.10.2026. During the operation, the above jeweller was found selling hallmarked jewellery without having a valid Certificate of Registration and also with fake hallmarking (Without HUID). During the operation more than 40 gms of Gold jewellery from M/s Himatlal T. Patadia (Gems & Jewellers), First Floor, 117, Silicon Valley, Shivranjani Cross Roads, Ahmedabad were seized.
Selling of Gold jewellery without having a valid Certificate of Registration and/or with fake or without hallmarked (HUID) is a violation of Section 14 and 15 of BIS Act, 2016. The offence is punishable with imprisonment upto one year or a fine not less than Rs. 1,00,000/- (Rupees One Lakh) but may extend upto five times the value of goods or articles produced or sold or offered to be sold or affixed or applied with a Standard mark or both as per Section 29 of BIS Act, 2016.
Further, the authenticity of hallmarking can be verified in BIS Care Mobile App by feeding HUID number.
Bureau of Indian Standards has been carrying out a series of raids, as and when information is received about selling jewellery without HUID or fake Hallmark to protect the common consumer. Anybody who has information about the jewelers, who are selling without HUID jewellery or with fake hallmarking, may write to the Head, Bureau of Indian Standards, Ahmedabad Branch Office, Third Floor, Navjivan Amrut Jayanti Bhavan, Behind Gujarat Vidyapith, Off Ashram Road, Ahmedabad 380014 (Telephone 079-27540314).
