Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh has urged new entrepreneurs to enter the fast-growing global market for technical textiles. He made the call at a consultation programme in Surat, organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI).
Call to new entrepreneurs
Singh said global demand for technical textiles is rising rapidly. He asked new entrepreneurs to step forward and tap into it.
He described Surat as an emerging economic hub for the country.
Schemes to drive growth in Surat
Singh said the textile industry will play a crucial role in building a Developed India. He named the PM MITRA scheme and the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme as government initiatives that will drive growth in Surat. He said they would boost garmenting and branded textile manufacturing in the city.
2030 target
Singh said these measures will be key to reaching a target market size of 350 billion dollars for the Indian textile sector by 2030.
