Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is in Singapore from 9 to 11 October 2026 for talks on investment, trade and finance. She will meet political leaders, business heads and global institutional investors.

Talks with Singapore’s leadership

Sitharaman will call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. She will also meet Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

The talks will cover the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They will also follow up on the outcomes of the ISMR. Key areas include trade, investment, digital financial connectivity, capital markets and taxation. Semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, skilling and aviation are also on the agenda.

Singapore’s stake in India

Singapore is India’s largest source of FDI. Cumulative inflows reached around USD 194.68 billion between April 2000 and March 2026. Singaporean institutional investors, including GIC and Temasek, have significant investments across the Indian economy.

Meetings with investors and business leaders

Sitharaman will take part in a roundtable with hedge fund and portfolio fund managers. She will also hold a series of Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings. The sessions will focus on India’s growth path, investment opportunities and the wider global economic outlook.

She will hold one-to-one meetings with chief executives and heads of major firms. These include GIC, Temasek, DBS Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, British International Investment, IHH Healthcare and MUFG. Other meetings are with B Capital, HPS Investment Partners, SEB, Mitsui and TPG.

Routes for Singaporean money

The National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and GIFT City can open more channels for Singaporean capital. These include investment vehicles and funds.

The Ministry of Finance will work with other ministries and industry bodies. It will link interested Singaporean investors with Indian companies, financial institutions and State Governments. It will also help take identified projects forward.

The visit underlines India’s push to deepen its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Singapore. The focus is on turning political ties into more investment, business partnerships and concrete economic gains.
