How CityStory24 reports, what we will not do, and what happens when we get something wrong.

Sourcing

Every story names its source. You will find it on each item, with a link to the original wherever the source publishes one.

We report primarily from official and first-hand sources: the Press Information Bureau, central and state government departments, regulators, courts, police and civic bodies, and organisations speaking about their own affairs.

We cite the body a fact originates with, not the outlet that reported it. A council decision originates with the council; a court order with the court; an arrest with the police. Where we learn of such a fact elsewhere, we trace it to the body that made it and cite that body, which is standard newsroom practice.

We do not republish other publications’ work. We do not reproduce or reword their articles. Where a story consists of one outlet’s own newsgathering — an exclusive interview, an investigation, their own analysis — we do not run a version of it.

How we use automation

We think you are entitled to know how our pages are made, so we will be plain about it.

We use software to monitor official sources — government press releases, regulator notices and civic advisories — and to prepare items from them. A substantial part of our routine coverage, particularly government press releases, is prepared and published this way.

Every item prepared this way names the body that issued the release and links to the original, so you can always check what we started from and read it in full yourself.

We do not use automation for crime, communal or religious matters, named private individuals, ongoing legal proceedings, or medical claims. Those are written by a person or not at all.

Editorial responsibility is ours regardless of how an item was prepared. Software does not get to be the excuse for an error.

What we will not publish

  • Crime reporting that names private individuals who have not been charged
  • Content that inflames communal, caste or religious division
  • Speculation about ongoing court matters beyond the procedural facts
  • Medical or health claims we cannot attribute to a qualified source
  • Details of deaths or accidents before families can reasonably have been informed
  • Anything where being wrong would cause real harm to a named person

Corrections

We will get things wrong. When we do, we fix it visibly.

If you spot an error, email editorial@citystory24.in. Include the link to the story and what is wrong. We aim to respond within 48 hours.

  • Factual errors are corrected as soon as we have confirmed the correct information. The article carries a dated correction note explaining what was changed. We do not quietly edit and pretend it never happened.
  • Significant errors — anything that changed the meaning of the story — get the correction note at the top, not the bottom.
  • Typos and broken links are fixed without a note.
  • Removal happens only where there is a legal or genuine safety reason. We do not remove accurate reporting because someone would prefer it were not there.

Advertising and independence

Advertising does not influence what we cover.

  • Sponsored content is labelled at the top of the article, clearly, before you read it.
  • Advertisers get no say in editorial coverage, and no advance sight of stories about them.
  • Affiliate links, where we use them, are disclosed in the article.

We show advertising served by third-party networks, including Google. How those ads are selected, and the choices available to you, are described in our privacy policy.

If you ever think a piece of our coverage was bought, tell us. That accusation is worth taking seriously and we would rather hear it.
