The University of Colorado Denver, or CU Denver, has received a letter of intent from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to set up a new campus in Hyderabad. It will be the first public American university authorised to establish a degree-granting location in India. The campus will also be the first foreign university campus in Telangana.
CU Denver said its Hyderabad campus will offer programmes in high-demand fields, including business, computing, engineering and analytics. The university said the programmes will focus on interdisciplinary learning and career-oriented education. Last year, Illinois Institute of Technology became the first US university to set up a campus in Mumbai.
CU Denver Chancellor Kenneth T Christensen said the Hyderabad campus will build on the university's longstanding connection with students from India.
