Taking an important step towards realizing the vision of a well-nourished, secure and empowered India as the foundation of Developed India@2047, the Ministry of Women and Child Development will organize its Departmental Summit on 8th and 9th October, 2026 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. This is the second conference of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of a series of departmental summits. It aims to strengthen cooperative federalism, promote a sense of collective ownership of national priorities and accelerate results through close cooperation between the Center and the States.

This departmental summit model brings together the political leadership and senior officials of the Central and State Governments to deliberate on regional priorities, share best practices, address implementation challenges and agree on time-bound actions for better governance and service delivery.

This two-day summit will focus on the following four key themes:

  • Reimagining Anganwadi Centers for better nutrition and early education
  • Strengthening protection mechanisms for vulnerable children
  • Women safety through effective implementation of institutional and legislative measures
  • Women empowerment by strengthening the effectiveness and outcomes of key schemes

Discussions on the first day will include implementation challenges and solutions related to take home ration, freshly cooked meals and improving quality of nutrition tracker data, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), protection systems for vulnerable children including impact of social media and women safety. The second day of the summit will be dedicated to improving the effectiveness and outcomes of key schemes for women empowerment.

The participating States will strive to build consensus on agreed outcomes by sharing their experiences, challenges and best practices while strengthening the spirit of cooperative federalism and shared responsibility. During the concluding session, key outcomes and action plans to achieve them will be presented to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister's guidance will further strengthen the collective resolve of the Center and the states as well as set the direction for decisive and timely action on the agreed outcomes.
