The campaign was built around the theme “Swachhata Mein Sabki Bhagidari; Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat”. It aimed to spread awareness of the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, bring more young people into cleanliness work, and build shared ownership of the drive.

Leaders push the message

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met senior officials of all three Ministries on 1 October. He said cleanliness should become a lasting habit in daily life and work, and asked that the message reach every office and field unit.

Minister of State L. Murugan joined the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” activities at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication in Delhi. He urged people to make cleanliness a people’s movement.

During the campaign, the Secretary of the Ministry reviewed progress with Media Heads and Nodal Officers. He asked them to raise participation and meet the finalised targets.

Special activities were also held on World Tourism Day on 27 September 2026. On 1 October, the “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” programme called for one hour of voluntary cleanliness work. On Swachh Bharat Diwas, on 2 October, officers and staff joined cleanliness drives.
