The Department of Defense Production, Ministry of Defense has started the implementation phase of 'Special Operations 6.0' from October 2. This campaign will run till 31 October 2026. Its main objective is to promote cleanliness in offices and reduce the number of cases including pending files. This year, special emphasis is also being laid on effective collection, segregation and proper disposal of e-waste under the nationwide campaign.
Under Special Drive 6.0, the Department has given special attention to the attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings, besides regional and remote offices providing services to the public.
The department conducted several important activities in the preparation phase of the campaign which ran from 15 to 30 September 2026. These included linking offices, officers and grassroots level staff to the campaign, identifying cases including pending files and locations for the cleanliness drive, assessing unusable items to remove them, planning better use of available space, disposal of waste, management of records and identifying methods for proper collection and segregation of e-waste.
The Department of Defense Production had earlier also achieved notable results during Special Operation 5.0. Under the campaign, 17.42 lakh square feet of space was vacated, while an income of Rs 15.62 crore was generated from disposal of scrap. In addition, 27,500 documentary files were disposed of and 1,890 electronic files were closed.
