Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while congratulating Prime Minister Modi said;

“On behalf of the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and on my own behalf, I extend our warm and cordial congratulations to His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi @narendramodi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, on this truly historic milestone.

Today, 7 October 2026, marks 25 years since he first assumed office as the Chief Minister and Head of Government of Gujarat in the year 2001.

His public service has continued without any interruption. Having served the people of Gujarat for more than twelve years, he has held the office of Prime Minister of the Republic of India since 2014.

Leading for 25 consecutive years is a rare achievement in any democracy. In the world's most populous nation, this is a powerful testament to the unwavering and continuing faith reposed in him by the Indian public.

Nigeria highly values the strategic partnership between our two great nations. I fondly remember the historic state visit of the Prime Minister to Abuja in November 2024, when Nigeria honored him with the title of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.

That visit gave a new impetus to our cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, energy, defense and security, health, education and technology.

As fellow democracies and leading voices of the Global South, Nigeria and India share a commitment to a fairer, more inclusive and more representative international order. I am confident that under his continued leadership, the bonds of friendship between our people will grow even stronger.

On this remarkable occasion of Prime Minister Shri Modi, I wish him good health, continued strength and every success in serving the people of India.
