Financial assistance can play an important role in helping people from disadvantaged communities establish sustainable livelihoods and improve their economic conditions. Timely support for self-employment can provide an opportunity to create sources of income, strengthen family economic security and promote self-reliance.
Mr. Durgesh Barkhane, resident of Junnardev, Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh, was selected under NSFDC Electric Auto-Rickshaw Subsidy Scheme, 2024 and received financial assistance of Rs 1,85,000. This assistance enabled him to purchase an auto-rickshaw and establish a means of livelihood for himself and his family.
Before getting help, Mr. Durgesh was unemployed and had no permanent source of income. Due to limited economic resources it was difficult for them to meet the basic needs of their families and maintain a secure livelihood.
With the financial help received under this scheme, he bought an auto-rickshaw for about Rs 15,000 to 20,000 and started earning by driving it. This employment opportunity has improved their economic condition and brought about a noticeable and positive change in their lives. They are now able to contribute to the sustenance and well-being of their families with greater dignity and confidence.
This assistance provided Mr. Durgesh the opportunity to become self-employed and move towards better economic stability. Their experience shows how timely financial assistance can create employment opportunities and help people become economically independent.
Shri Barkhane expressed his heartfelt gratitude and said, “This financial assistance has given me the opportunity to become self-reliant through auto-rickshaws. This has improved my financial condition and I have been able to support my family with more dignity.”
Mr Durgesh Barkhane's journey shows how financial support can improve livelihood opportunities, strengthen family security and inspire others in rural communities to become self-employed and move towards self-reliance.
