Jobs and enterprise surveys
Field work for the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2026 is planned in October. Areas include parts of Pune Municipal Corporation, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), and rural and urban pockets of Pune, Satara, Ahilyanagar and Ratnagiri districts.
The PLFS measures worker population ratio, labour force participation rate and unemployment rate. Urban figures come quarterly, while rural and urban figures are compiled annually.
Separately, the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2026 covers small non-farm businesses in manufacturing, trade and non-construction services. Field work in October covers areas of Pune, PCMC, Ahilyanagar and Satara.
Rural and household surveys under NSS 81st Round
The 81st Round of the National Sample Survey began on 1 July 2026 and runs until June 2027. October field work covers three modules.
- Situation Assessment Survey of Agricultural Households and the All India Debt and Investment Survey cover landholdings, livestock, income, assets, debt and farming practices.
- The Migration Particulars Survey looks at migration patterns, reasons, duration, remittances and return migration.
- The National Household Income Survey maps income distribution and living conditions in selected urban blocks and villages.
Prices and investment surveys
Market price surveys for the Consumer Price Index, covering urban and rural areas, are under way. Monthly price and daily wage data for 12 agricultural and 13 non-agricultural occupations are also being collected for the Labour Bureau.
The Annual Survey of Incorporated Service Sector Enterprises 2026 uses the GSTN database, with a reference period of FY 2024-25. Notices under the Collection of Statistics Act have gone to enterprises covered by it.
The second round of the Forward-Looking Survey on Private Sector CAPEX Investment Intentions runs from October to December 2026. Selected firms in the region have been sent notices to file details on the CAPEX Portal.
