The CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, will organise an Open Day and Public Lecture on October 12, 2026, as part of the 85th Foundation Day celebrations of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
The Open Day will be held from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the CSIR-NIO campus, Dona Paula. The programme will provide students an opportunity to learn about marine resources, oceanographic research and scientific instruments used in ocean studies.
An exhibition on marine resources and oceanographic instruments will be organised as part of the programme. Films related to ocean sciences will also be screened. A special session on “Careers in Oceanography” will be conducted to familiarise students with career opportunities in ocean science and research.
A Public Lecture will be held at 4:00 PM at the CSIR-NIO Auditorium. Dr. D. Seshagiri, Director, Naval Physical & Oceanographic Laboratory, will deliver the lecture titled “Eyes in the Sky, Ears in the Waters”.
The Foundation Day programme highlights CSIR’s commitment to advancing scientific research and technological development and contributing to innovative, competitive and sustainable solutions in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
CSIR-NIO has urged students, researchers, science enthusiasts and members of the public to participate in the Open Day and Public Lecture programme.
