A 21-year-old woman in Tennessee has raised more than $146,000 in under a day for an 80-year-old cinema worker at AMC. Brooklyn Green began the appeal after spotting the employee tidying litter at the theatre.
Green first set a target of just $500, using TikTok and GoFundMe. The response far outstripped that goal within hours.
The worker, Mary, has spent more than 45 years in cinemas. She has since thanked donors and asked that the fundraiser be paused.
