Nearly 80 structures and six shops came down in Ahmedabad as the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) cleared land across four wards.
The anti-encroachment drive covered Naranpura, Ranip, Paldi and Nava Vadaj. The aim was to take back reserved land and clear TP roads, which had been blocked by temporary and permanent structures.
Ward-by-ward clearance
- Naranpura: Six commercial shops were removed from more than 350 square metres, securing Reserve Final Plot No. 592.
- Ranip: Teams removed 19 temporary and permanent structures from a plot of about 2,800 square metres under Preliminary TP Scheme No. 66 (Ranip-Chenpur-Chandlodia), Final Plot No. 295/1. The corporation took possession of the land.
- Paldi: Between 60 and 65 structures were taken down along the 12-metre TP road leading to the Shreyas Metro Station area.
- Nava Vadaj: Permanent construction on the TP road was removed.
Roads and reserved plots freed
The operation secured key reserved plots. It also cleared blocked stretches on busy traffic routes, including the approach to Shreyas Metro Station.
In the same update, the AMC dismantled six illegal sheds and seized commercial materials. Enforcement teams clamped 41 vehicles and collected Rs 26,900 in fines.
Background
The AMC has carried out similar TP-road clearances before. In an earlier 2025 drive, a 12-metre-wide TP road was opened for public traffic.
Across 2025, the corporation removed encroachments covering 17 lakh square metres. It claimed to have opened 111 km of roads during the year.
