The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has opened a local office in Chandigarh. SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey inaugurated it today.
Where the office is and who it covers
The office is at SCO No. 20-25, 2nd Floor, Jeevan Prakash Building, Sector 17B, Chandigarh, 160017.
It will cover Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. It will work under SEBI’s Northern Regional Office in New Delhi.
What the office will do
The office will help resolve investor complaints against listed companies and market intermediaries. This is its main role for people who invest.
It will also spread investor education and financial literacy in the region.
It will engage with issuers, especially small and medium enterprises. It will also deal with social stock exchanges, municipal bonds and corporate bonds within its area.
The office may also take up other functions that SEBI delegates to local offices from time to time.
