Rupee depreciates by 36 paise against US dollar

In the forex market, the rupee depreciated by 36 paise to close at 96 rupees and 78 paise against the US dollar. The dollar index, which indicates US dollar's strength against a basket of six other leading currencies, was trading at 102.34 in intra-day trade.
