Three 35mm Tamil film classics starring legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan and directed by A P Nagarajan have been acquired and handed over to the NFDC-National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune. The films Thiruvilayadal (1965), Thiruvarutchelvar (1967) and Thillana Mohanambal (1968) were donated by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

The acquisition fills an important gap in the NFAI collection, as Thiruvarutchelvar was previously not available in its collection in any format. The donation also adds a second surviving print of Thillana Mohanambal and Thiruvilayadal, strengthening preservation of the films.

NFDC Managing Director Prakash Magdum said the addition of the films would strengthen the national collection and help preserve important works of Indian cinema for future generations.
