The Department of Sports, Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has consistently set standards of excellence in promoting accountable governance and streamlining administrative processes.
Following the remarkable achievements of the Fifth Special Campaign last year, the Sports Department has laid the groundwork for the preparatory phase of the Sixth Special Campaign with a focused commitment to ensuring accountable governance, streamlining administrative processes and scientifically managing e-waste with the objective of collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste. The Department, in collaboration with its subordinate organizations - Sports Authority of India, Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, National Sports University, National Anti-Doping Agency and National Dope Testing Laboratory, diligently accomplished the various targets set for last year's Fifth Special Campaign, the progress of which at each stage was actively monitored by senior officials. Cleanliness campaigns were conducted at 50 identified sites including regional offices and headquarters of organizations working under the department.
This coordinated effort enabled the re-use of 3,90,000 square feet of space, utilizing many of the newly available spaces. Additionally, a revenue of Rs 4,07,55,976 was generated from waste disposal during the campaign, demonstrating the commitment to sustainability and efficient use of resources in the area of sanitation. The Department and its subordinate organizations increased the reach and visibility of the campaign through various social media platforms. The Sports Department is conducting the preparation phase of the Sixth Special Campaign from September 15 to September 30, 2026. Under this, the Sports Department is fully prepared to implement the Sixth Special Campaign with full strength to set higher standards in workplace hygiene and to meet the objectives set by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances.
