  • Pension Adalat: An alternative mechanism for redressal of pension related grievances – 897 pending grievances of very senior pensioners and family pensioners will be heard for redressal

Pension Adalat is an innovative initiative launched by the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare for immediate redressal of grievances of Central Government pensioners. It provides a common platform where all stakeholders concerned with a particular type of grievance can come together for resolution of long pending pension related grievances. Thus, it works in the spirit of a “whole of government approach”. Pension Adalat, being an alternative resolution mechanism, helps in eliminating the need for expensive and time-consuming court cases, thereby providing an efficient and cost-effective grievance redressal mechanism. This is a commitment of the Central Government to reduce litigation.

Pension Adalats, introduced by the Department of Pension Adalats in 2017, have emerged as an efficient and effective mechanism for resolution of complex and long pending pension related grievances. With a success rate of 71.79 per cent, the Pension Adalat initiative has proved its usefulness by resolving on the spot 20,676 complaints out of a total of 28,797 complaints in the last 16 sessions. The remaining cases have also been settled through inter-ministerial review meetings following the respective pension courts.

Continuing this initiative, the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare will organize the 17th Pension Adalat under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Minister of State (PPL), Dr. Jitendra Singh on 05.10.2026 at TN Chaturvedi Memorial Hall, IIPA, New Delhi.

This Pension Adalat is unique in its thematic nature as it hears redressal of 897 grievances of very senior pensioners and family pensioners belonging to 24 Ministries/Departments and lodged on the CPENGRAMS portal.

Very senior pensioners, family pensioners and their relatives from across the country will also participate in the proceedings through hybrid mode, as complainants are being provided an opportunity to join the Pension Adalat physically or through video conferencing.

During the proceedings, the Hon'ble Minister of State (Minister of Public Welfare) will also release pamphlets highlighting the success stories of the 16th Pension Adalat held on 13th May 2026. In addition, a booklet containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on issues related to family pensioners will also be issued.

This is the official press release issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), and is published without changes.
