- Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Department of Atomic Energy, celebrated its Diamond Jubilee Year, marking six decades of its formation on 4 October 1967 and its contribution to India's atomic energy programme.

Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), a public sector undertaking under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), celebrated its Diamond Jubilee Year on 4 October 2026. The occasion reflects its six-decade journey in the field of uranium mining and processing and its contribution by playing a leading role in India's nuclear energy programme.
Senior officials, scientists, engineers, technical personnel, employees, media representatives and other stakeholders came together to participate in the Diamond Jubilee Year Celebration held at Jadugora. On this occasion, an important milestone in the institutional journey of UCIL was recalled and future prospects and shared responsibilities were also considered.
Ms. Seema Jain, Member-Finance, Atomic Energy Commission attended the Diamond Jubilee Year Celebration as the Chief Guest. During the program he also visited the Technology Demonstration Pilot Plant (TDPP) at C, Research and Development (R&D) Center at Jadugora and the proposed new site of Dark Matter Laboratory at 815 meter level of underground mine at Jadugora.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Seema Jain, Member-Finance, Atomic Energy Commission said, “UCIL Diamond Jubilee Year Scientific Efficiency, A celebration of the institutional experience and six decades of dedicated service to the nation. It is also an opportunity to pay respectful tribute to Dr. Homi Jahangir Bhabha and those pioneers, Who laid the foundation of India's uranium mining and processing capabilities. From the depths of the earth to the massive nuclear energy program, UCIL has played an important and responsible role in developing indigenous capacity in uranium mining and processing. During these six decades, Generations of UCIL personnel have shown remarkable dedication and tenacity to sustain this vital national endeavor while working in difficult conditions and challenging environments. As India looks towards an expanded role for nuclear energy, this important milestone, There is also an opportunity to recognize technologies and systems, who have consistently taken this journey forward and provide an opportunity to look to the future with confidence.”
Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy and Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, while extending his greetings on the occasion, said, “The Diamond Jubilee Year is an opportunity to recognize the contribution of UCIL and reaffirm the importance of continuous innovation and capacity building as we move forward towards India's nuclear energy mission.”
A major feature of the Diamond Jubilee Year program was the Journalist Workshop organized at the Information Center at Narvapahar. Along with this, DAE Technology Exhibition was also organized showcasing the technologies and their applications being developed from DAE's units and institutes.
The workshop provided an opportunity to the participating media representatives to get closer to the science, technology and people behind India's nuclear energy programme. It provided an opportunity for media representatives to interact with scientists, engineers and technical experts and gain an in-depth understanding of the technologies, systems and applications that make up the broader nuclear and radiation technology ecosystem.
Media representatives visited UCIL's uranium mining and milling facilities. During this time he gained first-hand experience of mining operations, ore handling and processing systems and the technologies and procedures adopted at operating sites.
