Textile Ministry on 2 October 2026 On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti special operation 6.0 Sanitation and sanitation related activities under held a series of meetings reaffirming its commitment to promote a culture of cleanliness, hygiene and responsible workplace practices.

This program was organized by the Secretary (Textiles), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi. It was organized under the leadership of NIFT Delhi and was attended by senior officials of Ministry of Textiles, faculty members and staff of NIFT Delhi. on this occasion oath of cleanliness In which the participants reiterated their commitment to maintain cleanliness and contribute to a clean and healthy environment.

Cleanliness drive was also conducted at NIFT Delhi campus in which officers, faculty members and staff actively participated. The objective of the campaign was to improve the cleanliness and maintenance of the premises, promote waste management and sensitize the participants to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

Celebrating Gandhi Jayanti under Special Campaign 6 underlines the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Textiles to institutionalize cleanliness in its offices and field establishments and encourage collective participation in creating clean, tidy and sustainable workplaces. The Ministry continues to give priority to cleanliness, disposal of obsolete and unusable items, better workplace management and continuous improvement in hygiene standards as part of the special drive.

Textile waste collection campaign is starting from Gandhi Jayanti.

Under this initiative, special bins have been installed for textile waste collection at various locations from Gandhi Jayanti (2 October 2026). The initiative aims to further strengthen the spirit of public participation and collective action towards a clean and sustainable India, with emphasis on cleanliness, responsible waste management and adoption of sustainable practices.

The initiative aims to promote responsible collection, segregation, recycling and upcycling of post-consumer textile waste and encourage sustainable waste management practices in central government office complexes and residential colonies in New Delhi. All officers and employees have been requested to actively participate in the campaign by depositing their consumer used textile waste in the designated collection bins during the campaign period.

Under the implementation phase of Special Drive 6, officers and staff of attached and subordinate offices of the Ministry of Textiles actively participated in the Pledge of Cleanliness, and reaffirmed their commitment towards cleanliness, hygiene and maintaining a clean and sustainable work environment.

Under this campaign, a comprehensive cleanliness and de-cluttering campaign was conducted at the National Jute Board premises located at Jute Bhawan, Kolkata and the regional office at New Delhi from 2 to 4 October 2026.
