Union Coal and Mines Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, Shri Keshav Chandra and senior officials of the Ministry and NDMC participated in the cleanliness drive organized under Swachhta Hi Seva 2026 at Yashwant Palace Market, Chanakyapuri ahead of Gandhi Jayanti.
During the cleanliness drive, Shri G. Kishan Reddy interacted with the sanitation workers and appreciated their dedicated contribution in keeping public places clean. He stressed that cleanliness is a collective responsibility. He called upon the citizens to actively contribute in maintaining a clean environment.
Mr Reddy called on citizens not to throw garbage in drains, public places, roads and water bodies and not to remove garbage from buildings or other places. He stressed that collective awareness and continuous public participation is necessary to maintain cleanliness.
Mr. Kishan Reddy highlighted the importance of acknowledging and respecting the contribution of sanitation workers who start work early in the day to ensure a clean environment for the citizens. He called for greater public participation to make cleanliness an integral part of daily life.
Under this programme, “One Tree in the Name of Mother” tree was also planted by the Union Minister, Secretary of the Ministry of Mines and senior officials. The initiative reinforced the message of environmental responsibility and the importance of creating a clean and green environment.
The program highlighted the spirit of cleanliness is service and the importance of collective action to keep public places clean and contribute towards a clean and green India.
The Union Minister expressed his gratitude to the sanitation workers, officials and all stakeholders for their participation and contribution in the Swachhta Hi Seva initiative.
