Madhya Pradesh-Karnataka Sangam 7th phase delegation begins cultural exploration and youth exchange trip

The delegation met the Governor of Karnataka and explored the rich cultural heritage of the state.

  • The delegation met the Governor of Karnataka and explored the rich cultural heritage of the state.

The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education is organizing the seventh phase of Yuva Sangam under the program ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ to strengthen inter-relationships among the youth and promote national integration.

The Madhya Pradesh-Karnataka delegation, for which School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Bhopal is the nodal institution, was flagged off on 26 September 2026. The delegation is visiting Karnataka under the hospitality of Karnataka Central University to experience its rich heritage, traditions, food, natural landscapes and cultural diversity.

A major highlight of the visit was the interaction of the Madhya Pradesh delegation with the Governor of Karnataka, Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot on 1 October 2026. The dialogue provided an opportunity to the youth delegates to learn about the cultural heritage of Karnataka and understand the role of youth in strengthening national integration and people-to-people ties.

As part of the cultural and educational experience, the delegates visited Bidar Fort and Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru (IIM Bengaluru).

The delegation also met renowned Bidriware artist Shri Rashid Ahmed Qadri, awarded Padma-Shri on 30 September 2026, who is known for his contribution to the traditional art of Bidriware. The interaction provided an opportunity to the delegates to understand this craft, its rich heritage and the importance of preserving the traditional knowledge and cultural heritage of India.

The delegates also visited Gurdwara Sri Nanak Jhira Sahib, where they experienced the spiritual and cultural traditions associated with this historical site. The visit provided him an opportunity to understand and appreciate the diverse religious and cultural heritage of the region.

Yuva Sangam is a major youth exchange initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, run under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme. It aims to promote mutual understanding and strengthen interaction among the youth of different States and Union Territories through experiential learning and cultural exchange. This initiative provides an opportunity to youth participants to experience the cultural traditions, educational institutions, innovation ecosystem and developmental initiatives of different states and union territories.

The program focuses on five key thematic pillars—tourism, tradition, progress, connectivity and technology. These pillars provide an opportunity to the participants to know and understand the diverse cultural, social, educational, technological and developmental dimensions of different regions.
