RJIL recorded the highest average download speed in Fazilka city, at 271.44 Mbps, in a TRAI drive test.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) released the findings of its Independent Drive Test (IDT) for Fazilka city and adjoining areas in Punjab. The tests were carried out from 5 to 7 August 2026. TRAI published the results to help consumers compare services and to push operators to improve.
Coverage and call quality
Testers recorded poor signal strength in 1,575 of 31,183 samples for BSNL. Airtel recorded 178 such samples, RJIL 295 and VIL 820.
BSNL also had three dropped calls out of 281 established calls, and VIL had three out of 248. Airtel and RJIL recorded none. Call silence instances lasting more than three seconds were highest for VIL, at six.
Data speeds and packet loss
Average download speed stood at 204.39 Mbps for Airtel, 15.59 Mbps for BSNL, 271.44 Mbps for RJIL and 17.19 Mbps for VIL.
BSNL’s packet loss was 2.68% on downlink and 2.90% on uplink. The other three operators recorded less than 1% on both.

Test area and next steps
The drive covered 184.6 km of city roads, a 1.9 km walk test and six hotspot locations. Routes included Abohar, Jalalabad, Fazilka, Ladhuka and several villages in Fazilka city.
TRAI’s Regional Office in Jaipur supervised the tests. The findings have been shared with the operators for any action they consider necessary. The detailed report is on the TRAI website.
