ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur concluded the month-long celebration of Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 on the Theme “Hamari Anganwadi Hamari Jimmedari” at Chaiba Village, Churachandpur District on Thursday. The programme was organized under the guidance of Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK Churachandpur with an aim to create awareness on nutrition, health and importance of balanced diet among farm women, adolescent girls, lactating mothers and children. Dr. S. Roma Devi, Subject Matter Specialist (Home Science) as resource person, highlighted the vital role of Anganwadi Centres in ensuring nutrition, health and early childhood development in rural areas. She said Anganwadi is not just the responsibility of the worker but of the whole community. She emphasized community participation in strengthening Anganwadi services – regular monitoring of growth of children, ensuring enrolment of pregnant women and lactating mothers, promoting exclusive breastfeeding, timely immunization, and use of Take Home Ration (THR) and Hot Cooked Meals properly. She highlighted the importance of first 1000 days nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, kitchen garden for dietary diversity, and use of locally available underutilised fruits and millets to combat anemia and malnutrition. She demonstrated low-cost nutritious recipes using local ingredients like millets, pulses, green leafy vegetables, amla, guava and drumstick leaves. She also explained methods of food preservation and hygiene to ensure year-round nutritional security. An awareness rally, recipe competition, nutri-garden demonstration and anthropometric assessment of children and women were conducted during the month-long campaign. More than 120 farm women, Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and adolescent girls actively participated in the month-long Rashtriya Poshan Maah programme. Dr. Manoj Kumar Pandey appealed to villagers to adopt Anganwadi Centre, support its activities and make it a hub of nutrition literacy to achieve a Kuposhan Mukt Gaon. The programme ended with Poshan pledge by all participants to take responsibility of their Anganwadi.
