India Energy Week (IEW) is India’s flagship energy event and one of the world’s fastest-growing energy forums, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, investors, innovators and technology providers to drive conversations on energy security, sustainability and innovation. Scheduled from 28-31 January 2027 in Kolkata, IEW 2027 will focus on “Unlocking Innovation, Securing Energy, Shaping Tomorrow”, and showcasing the latest advancements across the global energy value chain.
As part of the nationwide build-up to India Energy Week 2027, IndianOil has hosted the IEW 2027 Curtain Raiser and innovation outreach programme at IIT Patna, one of India’s premier technology institutions. The initiative aligns with the vision of IEW 2027 to foster industry-academia collaboration and encourage young researchers, innovators and startups to contribute to the energy transition. Through interactions with students, faculty members and emerging entrepreneurs, the programme aims to generate innovative solutions in areas such as clean energy, hydrogen, biofuels, artificial intelligence and digital technologies, reinforcing the role of academia in shaping the future of India’s energy ecosystem.
The programme was graced by Ajay Yadav, IAS, Secretary, Energy Department, Government of Bihar & Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited; A.K. Samantaray, Executive Director & State Head, IndianOil Bihar State Office cum State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry, Bihar; Satya Prakash, Executive Director & Refinery Head, Barauni Refinery, IndianOil; Prof. A.K. Thakur, Dean Administration-cum-Registrar, IIT Patna; Ajay Singh, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Bharat Plus Industries Pvt. Ltd.; distinguished faculty members of IIT Patna, valued customers and channel partners.
The Curtain Raiser programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, researchers, startups and industry stakeholders, reflecting the growing momentum behind India’s innovation-led energy transition. Addressing the gathering, A.K. Samantaray, Executive Director & State Head, IndianOil Bihar State Office cum State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry, emphasized the importance of fostering strong industry-academia partnerships to develop future-ready energy solutions and position India as a global energy leader. He highlighted the critical role of innovation, technology and young talent in shaping a secure, sustainable, resilient energy ecosystem and encouraged students and innovators to actively contribute to India’s energy transformation journey.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening collaboration between academia, industry and startups, while building momentum for India Energy Week 2027, which promises to be a global platform for innovation, partnership and action towards a sustainable energy future.
