The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) actively participated in the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2026, observed from 17th September to 2nd October 2026 across Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. The campaign focused on promoting cleanliness, hygiene, civic responsibility, environmental responsibility and public participation towards realizing the vision of a Swachh Bharat.

The campaign commenced on 17th September 2026, with Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal, administering the Swachhata Pledge to all officers and officials of the Ministry. During the fortnight, the Ministry undertook a series of activities in accordance with its action plan, including special cleanliness drives and Shramdaan, cleanliness inspections by senior officers, the “Swachh Air” initiative with placement of indoor plants in Sections and officers’ cabins, health check-up of Safai Mitras, and thanking and felicitation of Safai Mitras.

The campaign also emphasized environmental responsibility through plantation activities under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan”, alongside efforts to strengthen cleanliness and hygiene practices within the Ministry’s office premises.

A major highlight of the campaign was the “Ek Din – Ek Ghanta – Ek Saath Shramdaan” organized by the Ministry at Navyug School, Peshwa Road, New Delhi. The programme was led by Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs & Minority Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, and witnessed participation of Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal; Chairman, NDMC, Shri Manoj Kumar Dwivedi; Additional Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Satya Prakash; Principal, Navyug School, Ms. Meenakshi Kaushik, along with officers and officials of the Ministry, teachers and students of the school.

During the programme, the Swachhata Pledge was administered to all participants, reaffirming their collective commitment towards cleanliness and hygiene. As part of the event, Shri Kiren Rijiju, Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Shri Manoj Kumar Dwivedi and Dr. Satya Prakash planted saplings under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Abhiyan” in the school campus.

The programme witnessed active participation of officers and officials of the Ministry, teachers and students of Navyug School, reflecting the spirit of collective participation and shared responsibility towards Swachhata.

The campaign concluded with a closing ceremony, during which Safai Mitras were felicitated in recognition of their dedicated contribution towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Satya Prakash, while addressing the gathering, highlighted the tagline of the campaign and called upon everyone to celebrate its spirit by making Swachhata a regular ritual, beginning from one’s own immediate surroundings and vicinity.

Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal, reiterated the importance of sustaining the spirit of Swachhata beyond the campaign period. He emphasized that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and encouraged officers and officials to continue adopting cleanliness and hygiene as an integral part of their everyday practices.

Through the various activities undertaken during the campaign, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of Swachh Bharat and to fostering a sustained culture of cleanliness, hygiene, environmental responsibility, civic participation and dignity of labour.

The campaign concluded with a commitment to continue these efforts and make Swachhata an integral part of everyday life.
