- World Post Day to be Celebrated on October 09 on the Anniversary of the Establishment of Universal Postal Union
- Theme for This Year Will Be "One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities"
In a major initiative to enhance public engagement and highlight its expanding service network, the Department of Posts, India, will celebrate ‘National Postal Week’ across Chhattisgarh from October 09 to October 15, 2026. The week-long campaign will commence on ‘World Post Day’ (October 09), marking the founding anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) established in 1874. The annual event aims to raise awareness among citizens and business entities regarding the postal department’s pivotal role in daily life and its continuous contributions to global, social, and economic development.
According to an official statement issued by the Office of the Chief Postmaster General, Chhattisgarh Postal Circle, Raipur, special thematic programs will be conducted daily across all divisional offices. These events are designed to directly inform the public about the department’s latest citizen-centric offerings and digital services. This year’s World Post Day theme has been officially designated as “One Postal Network, Infinite Possibilities”.
National Postal Week will commence on October 09, 2026 (Friday) as ‘World Post Day’. On this day, special banners and posters will be displayed at all major post offices. On this occasion, a public awareness rally will be organized under the designated theme, and a blood donation camp will also be held.
In the second phase of the week, ‘Fun with Philately Day’ will be celebrated on October 12, 2026 (Monday). Under this, school students will be taken on a tour of the philatelic museum, and awareness sessions will be conducted on quizzes, the ‘Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana’, and the ‘Dhai Akhar’ letter-writing competition. Apart from this, a special group discussion and workshop (Gen-N Post Offices) will be organized for philatelists.
Following this, October 13, 2026 (Tuesday) will be celebrated as ‘Financial Inclusion and Citizen Centric Services Day’. During this, ‘Dak Chaupal’ will be compulsorily organized at every sub-divisional level. In this, savings schemes, Postal Life Insurance (PLI), Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI), and Aadhaar camps will be organized focusing mainly on rural, tribal, and backward areas, along with activities related to the Reform Utsav.
During the week, ‘Mails and Parcels Day’ will be organized on October 14, 2026 (Wednesday). On this occasion, a Customer Meet (Grahak Milan) program will be organized to establish direct interaction with customers, informing them about the various mail and parcel services of the postal department, and discussing their issues and suggestions. Additionally, HRO and SRO will organize sorting contests in their respective units.
National Postal Week will conclude on October 15, 2026 (Thursday) with ‘Technology and Innovation Day’. On this day, a quiz competition on new technologies implemented in post offices will be organized, and a Prabhat Pheri (morning awareness march) will be conducted to spread public awareness about postal services and this year’s theme. Through this event, the Department of Posts strives to bring all its latest services to the general public and receive necessary suggestions for service improvement through customer meets.
