Two days, all States
The Departmental Summit runs on 8 and 9 October 2026. Political leaders and officials handling women and child development from every State will take part.
It is the second in a series of such summits. The Prime Minister conceived the series to build Centre-State teamwork and shared ownership of national goals.
Four focus areas
The summit will concentrate on four themes:
- Revamping Anganwadi Centres to improve nutrition and early education
- Strengthening protection systems for vulnerable children
- Ensuring women’s safety through effective institutional and legislative frameworks
- Boosting women’s empowerment by making key schemes more effective and better at delivering results
Aim: faster delivery
The model brings Union and State governments together. They will discuss sector priorities and share good practices.
They will also tackle implementation problems and agree on time-bound actions to improve governance and service delivery.
