Several leaders praised his focus on good governance, innovation, infrastructure and sustainable development. Others pointed to his commitment to global peace and inclusivity.

Nigeria, Philippines and Japan

Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said a quarter-century of unbroken leadership is rare in any democracy. He said it reflected the confidence Indian people have placed in Modi.

Tinubu recalled Modi’s State Visit to Abuja in November 2024, when Nigeria made him Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger. He said the visit boosted cooperation in trade, energy, defence and health.

Japan’s message highlighted Modi’s work in raising India’s standing abroad. It recalled Modi’s welcome during a visit to India in July. It also noted that next year marks 75 years of Japan-India diplomatic relations, and pledged closer work on a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.

Nepal wished Modi and his government continued success and prosperity. Botswana commended his dedication and service to the people of India.

Bart De Wever said he looks forward to deepening the partnership after his productive visit to India last month.
