Three people have been booked in Kathlal taluka, Gujarat, over an alleged Rs 40,000 extortion demand from a grain trader. The case was registered after a complaint was lodged in Pithai village.

What the complaint alleges

A person posing as a journalist allegedly demanded Rs 40,000 from the trader. The complaint also alleges assault and an attempt to snatch cash.

Police have registered an offence against Ankit Vyas, Sanjay Pandey and Madhuben. Ankit Vyas is described as the main accused.

Accused taken to hospital

According to reports, Ankit Vyas drank phenyl after being taken to a police station. He was then moved to Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
