Jobs for Odisha youth: 298 students shortlisted at IGNOU placement drive

The drive, held at IGNOU's Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar, brought together 15 companies from sectors including banking, electronics and retail. Organisers said similar drives will be held periodically.

Some 489 candidates took part in a campus placement drive at the IGNOU Regional Centre in Bhubaneswar on 7 October 2026. Of them, 298 students have been shortlisted for various positions.

Companies and jobs on offer

The drive was organised by the Campus Placement Cell and the Regional Centres in Bhubaneswar and Rairangpur. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Tata Steel Foundation partnered on the event.

Fifteen companies from different sectors joined the recruitment. They included Axis Bank, TATA Electronics, Blinkit and Bajaj Finance Limited. The drive aimed to create jobs for young people in both STEM and Non-STEM fields.

Officials urge students to use training

M K Dash, Senior Regional Director and Head of IGNOU Regional Centres in Bhubaneswar and Rairangpur, spoke at the inaugural session. He said the skill and internship facilities offered by IGNOU would help students in their careers.

Dash said such placement drives will be held periodically. Ajay Mishra, Head of CII Odisha, also addressed the students and wished them well.

Aim to link education with jobs

The organisers said the drive reflects the commitment of IGNOU, CII and Tata Steel Foundation. The aim is to strengthen links between industry and academia. They also want to build clear routes from education to employment for Odisha’s youth.
