- Punjab's Raghubir Singh's journey towards economic self-reliance
Timely support for self-employment can help strengthen existing businesses, expand income opportunities and move towards greater economic stability. Financial assistance can play an important role in helping people from weaker sections start sustainable livelihoods and improve their economic condition.
Mr Raghubir Singh, 43, from Punjab, received financial assistance of Rs 2.50 lakh under NSFDC Term Loan Scheme in 2025. With this financial assistance, they were able to install modern machines and expand their tailoring business, which strengthened their existing livelihood and created better income opportunities.
Before receiving this help, Mr Singh's monthly income was Rs 10,000. Due to growth in business and proper utilization of financial help, his monthly income increased to about Rs 20,000. This increase in income has strengthened their financial position and they are able to meet their household needs in a more stable and secure manner.
With the help of the loan, Mr. Singh's financial condition has improved significantly and he has got the opportunity to run his own business with greater financial stability. She has shown financial discipline by making regular loan repayments and has also strengthened her tailoring and embroidery business.
Expressing his happiness, Mr. Raghubir Singh said, “The financial assistance has helped me expand my tailoring and embroidery work and increase my monthly income. It has strengthened my financial position and enabled me to be more self-reliant.”
