The Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 94th anniversary on 8 October 2026 at Hindon Air Force Station, Ghaziabad. The occasion showcased the operational capability, technological advancements, professionalism and rich heritage of the Indian Air Force. The Air Force Day Parade (AFDP) was inspected by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh. The guests present included the Army Chief, Navy Chief, former Air Force Chief and other senior military officers and civilians.

The program began with the march-in of the President's Flag symbolizing the Indian Air Force's exceptional service, professional excellence, dedication and commitment to the nation. On arrival, the Air Chief was given an aerial salute by three Mi-17 1V helicopters in flag formation with the national flag and the flag of the Indian Air Force. The parade was commanded by Group Captain Manish Sharma and was followed by the investiture ceremony. In this, air warriors were awarded medals for gallantry and distinguished service. The units were also awarded citations for excellence.

The theme of this year's Air Force Day was 'Indian Air Force: Infallible, Impenetrable and Precise'. It reflects the Indian Air Force's unwavering commitment to protect the nation's skies with precision, flexibility and operational excellence.

In his address, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh emphasized that “air power is the primary means of protecting national interest”. He also said that “the Indian Air Force is alert, committed and ready to face any contingency”. He stressed that operational capability and readiness are moving in the right direction. “An air force may have the most advanced aircraft in the world, but its true strength is measured by its operational readiness—how quickly and confidently it can respond when called upon,” he said. Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said the Indian Air Force's rapid response to combat operations reflected its "destructive power as well as effective air defense operations". He pointed out that “‘Chhook, Abedya, Prachak’ is not just a slogan; it is an expression of our strength and resolve.”

Reiterating the Indian Air Force's commitment towards technological advancement and self-reliance, he said that “self-reliance is our guiding principle”, and stressed that emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and autonomous systems, will be integrated keeping human rights at the centre. He also said that “success in modern conflict requires close coordination” and that joint planning and integrated combat application with the Army and Navy is a daily activity. On the space aspect, he said that “space is a natural extension of the air sector”, and talked about the growing cooperation with ISRO and the domestic space industry. This also includes the role of the Indian Air Force in the Gaganyaan mission.

A static display of armaments and equipment of the Indian Air Force (IAF) provided the visitors and media personnel an opportunity to view the wide range of operational and combat capabilities of the IAF. The parade showcased fighter aircraft, helicopters, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface guided weapon systems, radars and one-way attack unmanned aerial systems. The exhibition highlighted the Indian Air Force's continued focus on 'Make in India' and indigenous capability development. Five unit commendations were awarded to 24 Squadron ‘The Hawks’, 110 Helicopter Unit ‘The Vanguards’, 200 Squadron ‘Skanda’, 2402 Squadron ‘Vajra’ and Electronic Warfare Range.

The drummer team of 33 Young Air Warriors of the Indian Air Force gave a lively performance of snare drum, roto drum, bass drum and cymbals. It also included dynamic structures and acrobatics.

The event also featured a spectacular aerial display by the Heritage Flight of the Indian Air Force. It showcased the rich heritage of Indian military aviation. The aerial display by a vintage ‘Tiger Moth’ aircraft enthralled the audience and provided a fitting tribute to the glorious heritage of the Indian Air Force.

After the ceremonies at Hindon Air Force Station, the Air Force Day aerial display will be held at Namo Ghat, Varanasi on 25 October 2026.
