Strictness in Delhi: Internet shut down before Jantar Mantar protest, 245+ trains cancelled.

Delhi Police did not allow the demonstration, yet party founder Abhijit Dipke has said that the movement will continue. The protest is over allegations of vote theft and the demand for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

An unprecedented security cordon was created in Delhi on Saturday. Delhi Police had refused permission to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) to protest at Jantar Mantar.

Thousands of soldiers deployed in the city

Thousands of police and paramilitary personnel were deployed across Delhi ahead of the demonstration. Entry and exit gates at 45 metro stations were closed.

Mobile internet service was stopped within a radius of four kilometers of Janpath-Kartavya Path intersection. This restriction will remain in place from 10 pm on October 9 to 10 pm on October 10.

Trains cancelled, figures keep increasing

Northern Railway issued several bulletins. By Friday evening the number of canceled trains increased from 38 to more than 250.

At least 245 trains scheduled to arrive or depart from New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin station were cancelled. According to Railways, 250 express trains arriving at these stations between 4 am to 2 pm on October 10 will be cancelled. Some trains are canceled for October 9 and some for October 10.

CJP's allegation and reason for protest

Party founder Abhijit Dipke said that despite not getting permission, the movement will go ahead.

CJP has accused the Center of imposing 'Emergency' in Delhi. The party cited internet shutdown, cancellation of trains and detention of volunteers before the demonstration as the basis for this.

The party's protest is on the issue of alleged vote theft. She is demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Questions were raised on these security measures in the Supreme Court on Friday and they came under scrutiny.
