Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) during August 2026 Fazilka city and surrounding areas (in Punjab LSA) The findings of the Independent Drive Test (IDT) conducted in India have been released for the information of general telecom consumers. The objective of this drive test is to assess and verify the real-time quality of mobile network services (both voice and data) provided by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs). During IDT, TRAI records the performance of TSPs for key Quality of Service (QoS) parameters such as coverage, call drop rate (CDR), call setup success rate (CSR), packet loss rate, data download (DL) and upload (UL) throughput etc., which are then published to inform consumers and encourage TSPs to improve their services.

These IDTs (Internal Data Testing Devices) are designed to measure the mobile network performance of all TSPs (Transporter Service Providers) in various usage environments such as cities, hotspots, public transport hubs, etc. In this type of drive testing, live data and voice sessions are established using SIM cards of all the TSPs on 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks. Several advanced test handsets are used, and sessions are monitored and analyzed in real time using advanced software systems.

TRAI through its appointed agency In Punjab LSA During 5th August to 7th August 2026 Fazilka city and surrounding areas Drive tests were conducted in India, which included city drive (184.6 km), walk test (1.9 km) and hotspot location (6). These tests were conducted under the supervision of TRAI's Jaipur regional office. The observations presented in the drive test report reflect the performance of the TSP on the test area/route on the day/time the drive test is conducted.

drive test route mapping: The following map provides an overview of drive test routes, including city drives, inter-operator calling, hotspot and walk tests, as indicated on the map:

Key parameters assessed

  1. Coverage Gap: Percentage of samples for which the signal strength was found to be less than the minimum signal strength prescribed for the respective technology (2G/3G/4G/5G).
  2. Voice Services: Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Call Drop Rate (DCR), Call Setup Time, Call Silence Rate, Speech Quality (MOS).
  3. call silence instance : Number of call silences during a call.
  4. data services: Download/upload throughput, latency, jitter, packet drop rate.

Fazilka city and surrounding areas of Punjab LSA The overall mobile network performance for key parameters is summarized below:

  1. coverage gap – During voice testing on the drive test route in auto-selection mode (5G/4G/3G/2G), signal strength was measured based on the number of samples with poor signal out of the total samples collected. Airtel For this ratio 178/31329, BSNL Of 1575/31183 for, RJIL Of 295/30439 for And VIL Of for 820/31163 Was. Description of coverage gap attached Given in the map.
  2. call drop – Number of dropped calls out of number of successfully established calls Airtel for 0/279, BSNL Of for 3/281, RJIL Of for 0/278 And VIL Of for 3/248 Was. Details of call drop locations attached Given in the map.
  3. call silence instance-Call silence instances, measured as the total number of silenced calls for more than 3 seconds out of the total established calls. Airtel for 1/268, for bsnl 4/273, RJIL for 3/272 And VIL Of 6/272 for Was. Details of call silence instance locations attached Given in the map.
  4. Packet loss rate (downlink and uplink):
  1. Packet Loss Rate (Downlink): Downlink Packet Loss Rate for Airtel 0.33 percent, for bsnl 2.68 percent, for RJIL 0.76 percent and for VIL 0.32 percent Was measured.
  2. Packet Loss Rate (Uplink): Uplink Packet Loss Rate for Airtel 0.36 percent, for bsnl 2.90 percent, for RJIL 0.42 percent and for VIL 0.43 percent Was measured.
  1. Data download and upload throughput:
  1. Data Download Performance (Overall): Airtel (5G/4G) Average download speed of 204.39 MBPS, BSNL (4G/3G/2G) of 15.59 MBPS, RJIL (5G/4G) of 271.44 MBPS And VIL (5G/4G/2G) of 17.19 MBPS doing. Download Throughput Details attached Given in the map.
  1. Data Upload Performance (Overall): Airtel (5G/4G) Average upload speed of 23.52 MBPS, BSNL (4G/3G/2G) of 6.39 MBPS, RJIL (5G/4G) of 20.86 MBPS And VIL (5G/4G/2G) of 15.10 Mbps was. Upload Throughput Details attached Given in the map.

The details of the drive test route and area covered during IDT are as follows:

City: Abohar in Fazilka city, Ghallu, khui kheda, Banwala, Sureshwala, fazilka, Chahala, chak khiowali, the one who shines, Chak Pakki, chak dumal, Bahmani one, Jalalabad, Answers to the robe, twisted, Ladhuka and Theh Qalandar etc.

The findings of this IDT report have been shared with the concerned TSP (Industrial Service Provider) so that they can take further action as required. The detailed report of IDT is available on TRAI website www.trai.gov.in.
