The Viksit Bharat Quiz, the first stage of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2027, drew 1,45,26,013 attempts from young people across the country. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced the quiz is complete.
The VBYLD 2027 is run by the ministry through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat). It aims to give young citizens a merit-based platform to share ideas and solutions for Viksit Bharat @2047.
How the quiz worked
The quiz ran on the MY Bharat portal from 17 August to 30 September 2026. A matching quiz was also hosted on the MyGov platform.
It had 20 questions, carried a maximum of 20 marks and had a time limit of 10 minutes.
Essay round and themes
About 5.7 lakh youth who qualified will move to the Viksit Bharat Essay Challenge. Each will submit a 500-word essay on the MY Bharat portal, on the theme set for their region. Essays can be written in any of 23 languages till 15 October 2026.
The ten regional themes are:
- Future Governance, Urban Transformation & Citizen Services
- Climate Security, Borders & Sustainable Mountain Development
- Demographic Dividend & Human Capital Development
- Sustainable Industrialization & Resource-led Growth
- Act East, Connectivity & Cultural Leadership
- Manufacturing, Entrepreneurship & Green Growth
- Tribal Leadership, Natural Resources & Inclusive Development
- Innovation Economy, Tourism & Creative Industries
- Technology, Innovation, Future Readiness
- Blue Economy, Human Capital & Global Competitiveness
The state-wise mapping of themes is available on the MY Bharat portal.
Next stages
The most promising essay writers will be shortlisted for an in-person presentation at the district level. This round will be held in all districts for the first time.
Those selected will then present at the State/UT VBYLD. Participants chosen from all States and UTs under the ten regional themes will form the national contingent of the VBYLD.
