As part of the World Post Day celebrations and National Postal Week, the Kerala Postal Circle is launching a new postal delivery service for customers, aimed at providing the fastest and most reliable delivery of postal articles. The ‘Assured Next Day Delivery’ service will connect the six municipal corporations in Kerala and ensure the delivery of postal articles by the very next day.
The service will be formally launched at a function to be held at the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Auditorium at 11 a.m. on October 9, 2026. Kerala Circle Chief Postmaster General Shri Amitabh Singh, IPoS, will deliver the keynote address at the function. Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Mayor Adv. V. V. Rajesh will preside over the function.
Under the scheme, Speed Post parcels and Speed Post documents booked between post offices in the six municipal corporations of Kerala—Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur—will be delivered on the next working day. The service has been made possible through the extensive road transportation network implemented by the Department on the Thiruvananthapuram–Kannur route.
The initiative is expected to reduce transit time while ensuring second-stage delivery through Integrated Delivery Centres and post offices along the route. A.D. Mails, CO, Shri Baijukumar B.L., will explain the details of the project.
As part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, a special postal cover on the theme “Safai Mitras – Guardians of Cleanliness” will also be released. Sanitation workers will be honoured during the function.
Kerala Circle DPS (HQ) Shri N. R. Giri, IPoS, will deliver the welcome address. Thiruvananthapuram North Division Senior Superintendent of Post Offices Smt. Govada Navya Sri, IPoS, will propose the vote of thanks.
Following the function, Kerala Circle Chief Postmaster General Shri Amitabh Singh, IPoS, will address a press conference.
As part of the National Postal Week celebrations, the Kerala Postal Circle will also organise a series of programmes from October 12 to 15.
Special Postal Cover in Honour of Captain Smith Machar
Kerala Postal Circle will also release a special postal cover in honour of Captain Smith Machar, who displayed exceptional courage and fought on despite being stabbed by his co-pilot aboard a flydubai aircraft.
The special cover will be released under the theme “Honouring Captain Smith Machar – Salute to Unparalleled Courage and Selfless Service.” This is the first such honour being accorded to Captain Smith Machar in the country.
