NHRC seeks report on Delhi Police harassment of three women journalists

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has acted on its own over a media report that three women journalists were sexually harassed by Delhi Police personnel. The incident allegedly took place during a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on 3 October 2026.

Commission flags serious concern

The Commission said the reported content, if confirmed, raises serious human rights concerns.

It has issued a notice to the Delhi Police Commissioner. The notice asks for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks.

Complaints sent for enquiry

According to the media report, published on 5 October 2026, the New Delhi District Police received complaints about the alleged incidents.

Those complaints were passed to the Crime Branch of Delhi Police for an enquiry.
