  • Union Minister Jitendra Singh launches new websites of DST and MoST
  • Content will be available on the websites in 22 languages
  • Grants, fellowships, schemes and application information on a single platform
  • Accessibility tools to support font, contrast, and screen-reading
  • Websites are built in accordance with DBIM 3.0 and GIGW 3.0 standards

Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh launched the new websites of the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST). He said that these websites reflect the philosophy of citizen-centric governance.

The minister said its objective is “science by the people, science for the people”. Emphasis was laid on making science accessible and affordable to all.

Complete information in one place

Information about DST schemes, grants, fellowships and scientific programs will be available on the websites. Eligibility criteria, application guidelines, proposal invitation, awards and results will also be here.

It will benefit students, researchers, start-ups, entrepreneurs, media and common citizens. Policy documents, notifications, reports and administrative forms are also maintained in a central repository.

More easy access in 22 languages

The integration of Bhashini will provide content in 22 languages on the websites. This will make scientific information available to people from different linguistic backgrounds.

Universal accessibility tools are also provided. With these, the size of the letters, distance between letters and lines can be changed. There is also a high contrast mode, link highlight and screen-reader features.

Websites will run with the same readability on desktop, tablet and mobile.

New structure and security

This redevelopment comes after the release of DBIM 3.0 by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in March 2025. DBIM provides a common framework for branding and content presentation of ministries. GIGW 3.0 sets the standards for quality, accessibility and cybersecurity.

The websites have a modular content management system (CMS), making it easy to update content and expand further. SSL/TLS encryption and CERT-In guidelines are in place for security.

Loading will continue during times of heavy traffic from the Content Delivery Network (CDN), such as on scheme results and application deadlines. The websites have been developed jointly by DST, National Informatics Center (NIC), project management team and development agency.

Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology Umesh V. Waghmare and senior officials were present in the program.
