  • The summit will focus on key topics such as nutrition, early education, child protection, women safety and empowerment

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the concluding session of the Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development on 9 October 2026 at approximately 4:30 pm at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. He will also address the gathering present on this occasion.

The two-day departmental summit to be held on 8-9 October 2026 will be attended by the political leadership of all the states and officials associated with the women and child development sector. This is the second summit in the series of departmental summits envisaged by the Prime Minister to strengthen cooperative federalism, promote collective ownership of national priorities and accelerate results through closer Centre-State collaboration.

The summit will focus on four main themes:

  1. Reimagining Anganwadi Centers for better nutrition and early education
  2. Strengthening protection systems for vulnerable children
  3. Protection of women through effective implementation of institutional and legislative frameworks
  4. Empowering women by enhancing the effectiveness and outcomes of key schemes

The Departmental Summit model brings together stakeholders from the Central and State Governments to deliberate on sector-wise priorities, share good practices, address implementation challenges and agree on time-bound actions for better governance and service delivery.
