Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav has flagged off four Basic Life Support ambulances. He also inaugurated an Apple Cider Vinegar processing unit virtually.
The unit is at Thanamir in Kiphire district, the eastern-most part of the state, on the border with Myanmar. The Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) organised the programme in Dimapur.
Ambulances for remote areas
Indian Oil Corporation Limited funded the ambulances under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, with Rs 58.08 lakh in financial assistance.
The vehicles have been allotted to Primary Health Centre Chümoukedima and to Community Health Centres in Dimapur, Niuland and Dhansiripar.
Governor Yadav said the ambulances would strengthen emergency medical services, especially in remote areas.
Vinegar unit to help farmers
The processing unit was set up under the Chief Minister’s Innovative Programme, with a sanctioned amount of Rs 50 lakh.
The Governor said the unit would help farmers add value to their produce. He said this would improve incomes and create livelihood opportunities.
Call for partnerships
Governor Yadav stressed the need to strengthen market linkages, processing facilities and infrastructure. He said this would unlock the agricultural and horticultural potential of Nagaland, particularly in Eastern Nagaland.
He also called for stronger partnerships between the government, public sector organisations and other stakeholders to promote inclusive development.
