Speed Post parcels and documents sent between post offices in six Kerala cities will now reach on the next working day. The Kerala Postal Circle launches the ‘Assured Next Day Delivery’ service on October 9, 2026.
Launch and coverage
The service covers Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Kannur, which are all municipal corporations. The Department built an extensive road transport network on the Thiruvananthapuram–Kannur route to make it possible.
The launch function will be held at the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Auditorium at 11 a.m. Kerala Circle Chief Postmaster General Amitabh Singh will give the keynote address. Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Mayor V. V. Rajesh will preside.
The initiative aims to cut transit time. Second-stage delivery will go through Integrated Delivery Centres and post offices along the route. Amitabh Singh will also address a press conference after the function.
Cover honours sanitation workers and pilot
As part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, a special postal cover on the theme “Safai Mitras – Guardians of Cleanliness” will be released. Sanitation workers will be honoured at the function.
The circle will also release a special postal cover for Captain Smith Machar. He fought on after being stabbed by his co-pilot aboard a flydubai aircraft. The cover is the first such honour for him in the country.
National Postal Week
The circle will hold a series of programmes from October 12 to 15 as part of National Postal Week celebrations.
