Ground preparations are underway for a free garba festival at Bhatia Maidan in Savli, Vadodara, held for Navratri.
Lights, sound and volunteers
The ground will have coloured lights and an advanced sound system. The festival is being presented as a free Navratri garba with community participation.
Hundreds of volunteers are working day and night to prepare the garba ground.
This year’s event will be run by A K Event Vrund of Rajkot.
Fourth year for taluka youth
This is the fourth consecutive year the free garba has been held for young men and women of the taluka.
The aim is to give young people from the taluka and villages a platform for garba similar to what is found in cities. About 15,000 young men and women from the taluka take part each year.
Who runs the festival
The event is organised by the Mahendrabhai Inamdar Charity Table Trust. The trust is named after the father of Savli MLA Ketan Namdar.
The same trust has run the garba at Bhatia Maidan in the name of the MLA’s late father in earlier years.
